Tel-Save offers $50 to people to switch service

Article Abstract:

Tel-Save Holdings Inc. of New Hope, PA, which resells long-distance telephone services that are purchased from AT&T Corp. networks, is offering $50 to entice customers to switch to its long-distance service. The company is also offering these customers 5 cents per minute for long-distance service, which is half the price of the discount plans offered by rivals, AT&T Corp., Sprint Corp. and MCI WorldCom Inc. The marketing strategy is part of Tel-Save's efforts to counter its 1998 second-quarter loss mainly attributed to greater than anticipated marketing expenditures.
