Less paper: the first step to no paper

Article Abstract:

Electronic mail systems are being used by a wide variety of firms to decrease paperwork and increase office efficiency. Electronic mail systems are being used for: drafting complex documents; allowing employees to work at home; sending messages within offices; and communicating with off-site representatives and brokers. Electronic mail saves companies money by reducing writing and printing costs, postal charges, and the amount of time messages spend in transit. Future developments in electronic mail systems will allow for transmission of drawings and efficient communication between different mail systems. Case studies of applications by the Commercial Union Insurance Companies and SMM Communications Ltd are included.
