There are a number of differences between the economies of Leeds and Bradford, England, such as the greater dependence of Bradford on manufacturing, which has led to problems in 1998. Leeds benefits from professional and financial services concentrated in the city, though Leeds manufacturers have faced problems. Both cities aim to attract jobs in the call center industry, though Leeds, which already has a number of call centers, may be hit by a shortage of labor in this field.

The economy of Leeds, England, has seen a growth in the financial services industry, but manufacturing still plays an important role. Employment has grown in Leeds, despite a national recession, but the city has to gear itslef to the international market to continue its recovery. The region benefits from entrepreneurial skills and a good quality work force. In nearby Bradford the textile industry has been affected by recession, but companies that remain are profitable.
