AMP online catalog shows way to support languages

Article Abstract:

Harrisburg, PA-based electric connector maker AMP Inc maintains a World Wide Web site that can translate words and phrases in eight different languages. The company adopts the official language of a specific country where it does business and presents each term in the database according to the language selected. To help AMP and other companies planning to integrate several languages into their Web sites, software vendors such as Global Sight and Transparent Language provide solutions. These software tools synchronize the translation of several languages in a site.

Pitting community against e-commerce: 2 Web sites draw on different models for success

Article Abstract:

Marketers who are developing Internet Web sites are weighing the value of using community against electronic commerce models among a variety of other models. An evaluation of two entrepreneurial and competing online services in the baby products business, Stork Site (www.storksite.com) and BabyCenter (www.babycenter.com), will indicate that each firm has used the ideas of community to successfully develop a customer base and compete with much larger rivals.
