Article Abstract:

Spectrolab Inc., Sylmar, Calif., is being awarded a $5,818,183 Technology Investment Agreement ($2,907,979, Government Portion; $2,910,204, Contractor Portion) to provide for research to develop 35-40% efficient multijunction solar cells. These cells will more than double the end-of-life power output of existing government and commercial space power systems. This was a Broad Agency Announcement posted in the Commerce Business Daily. There were five proposals received. Expected contract completion date is January 2002. Solicitation issue date was Dec. 17, 1997. Negotiation completion date was Nov. 20, 1998. Air Force Research Laboratory, Kirtland AFB, NM, is the contracting activity (F29601-98-2-0207).

Lockheed Martin Corp., Denver, Colo., is being awarded a $7,632,294 fixed-price-incentive-firm-target contract to provide for one front section structure in support of the Multi- Service Launch System Backup program. The front section is intended to contain a target vehicle and can be integrated onto a Minuteman missile to support a range of experiments. There was one firm solicited and one proposal received. Expected contract completion date is June 30, 2000. Solicitation issue date was Dec. 18, 1998. Negotiation completion date was Jan. 29, 1999. Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles, Calif., is the contracting activity (F04701-99-C-0205).
