Air force began probing Druyun contracts before Lockheed protest

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin filed a formal protest on 12 October 2004 with the Air Force over the $4 billion contract awarded by the Air Force in June 2001, to Boeing Co. However, the Air Force had begun to investigate the matter even before receiving Lockheed Martin's protest because Darleen Druyun, the former Air Force procurement officer had admitted on 1 October 2004 of unfairly deciding over the contracting decisions, thus favoring Boeing.
