AirFlex Glove by Design Continuum

Article Abstract:

Reebok International Ltd filed a breach of contract suit against Design Continuum Inc for applying Reebok shoes' pump design to Spalding and Evenflo Companies Inc's AirFlex baseball glove. Reebok's accusation that its former designers used Reebok product's design illegally raises intellectual property questions and serves as a warning to designers to negotiate clear contract terms with clients to avoid similar cases. In spite of the lawsuit, the glove was well-received by consumers, forcing Reebok to an out-of-court settlement and the development of a similar product.

Design + biology = bugs

Article Abstract:

A study of bugs and their motion mechanics could provide industrial designers with innumerable features that could inspire their designs of numerous objects such as robots or machines designed to navigate hostile environments. Insects can be said to be one of the world's most successful designs. A leading researcher and biologist observed that insects were designed for success and opined that they would not take over the world as they already owned it today.
