An audit confirms an increase in VCE's profit

Article Abstract:

Vychodoceska energetika (VCE) (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), power distributor, saw a net profit of CEK 374 mil in 2000, 32% more compared to 1999. The firm's profit increased by 19% in 2000 compared to the planned CEK 313 mil. Its proceeds rose by 5% to CEK 9.38 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. VCE supplied 5,531 GWh of electric power in 2000, 1.4% more compared to 1999. In 2000 VCE started to directly purchase all the production of Elektrarny Opatovice (Opatovice nad Labem, Czech Republic), which resulted in a decline in deliveries from CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic).

VCE expects its profit to increase in 2001

Article Abstract:

Vychodoceska energetika (VCE) (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), electric power distributor, expects a net profit of CEK 420 mil in 2001. The sum should be nearly 9% higher compared to 2000. The increase should be ensured by the growth of Gross Domestic Product which is connected with an increase in electric power consumption. VCE saw a net profit of CEK 374 mil in 2000, nearly 20% more compared to the planned CEK 313 mil and 32% more than in 1999.

E.ON pleases Temelin protesters

Article Abstract:

CEZ (Prague, Czech Republic), power company, will see up to a CEK 300 mil lower profit in case its export agreements with the concern E.ON (Germany) are terminated. E.ON plans to stop buying electricity from CEZ. This intention has pleased protesters against the Temelin Nuclear Power Station. The German Environment Minister Juergen Trittin welcomes E.ON's plan to end electricity purchase from CEZ too.
