Arnold Communs. lands big anti-snoking account

Article Abstract:

Arnold Communications Inc of Boston, MA, and its partner agencies have been named to handle the American Legacy Foundations Board's public relations campaign against the use of tobacco. The contract is valued at 50%-80% of the $300 million received annually by the Foundation as part of the master settlement between 46 states and the tobacco industry. The partner agencies include Porter Novelli, Crispin Porter, Burelle Communications, Broming Aguilar and Associates, Imada Wong Communications Group, The Nixon Group, Teenage Research Unlimited and Circle.com.

PR pitches shyness as disease

Article Abstract:

Public relations firm Cohn and Wolfe has been tapped to develop a campaign for the Societal Anxiety Disorder (SAD) Coalition. Dubbed the SAD Project, the campaign aims to raise public awareness regarding the biological nature of societal anxiety disorder, which is claimed to be the third most common psychiatric ilness after depression and alcoholism. The media campaign, including research and Web site, are funded by pharmaceutical company SmithKline Beecham, which manufactures and markets the antidepressant Paxil, a drug for the treatment of SAD.

Heidepriem & Mager leads bid to downgrade Vatican at U.N

Article Abstract:

Heidepriem and Mager has been hired by the Catholics for a Free Choice, a group composed of over 450 non-governmental organizations, to lead the 'See Change' effort that seeks to strip the Vatican of its Permanent Observer status at the United Nations. The move to repeal the Vatican's observer status was prompted by the Roman Catholic Church's continuing opposition to the practice of contraception and abortion.
