Batch and on-line processors continue to expand services and offerings

Article Abstract:

Taxation for Accountants magazine presents its annual survey of batch and on-line processing services for tax returns. The number and sophistication of these services has increased. Factors to be considered when selecting a service bureau include: average and maximum price of returns the previous year, location of service centers, turnaround times, treatment of errors or returns by the service bureau, and discounts offered. On-line tax filing systems, charges for on-line services, and companies providing on-line services are discussed. Companies that provide services for non-individual forms, state partnership returns, state corporate returns, and state fiduciary returns are also listed.
