Who is the greatest of them all?

Article Abstract:

Children in modern society in the UK have much less understanding of history and culture than their counterparts in previous generations. This can be attributed to the fact that they spend a lot of time watching television and that their parents are often too busy to talk to them properly. This trend cannot be reversed, but schools can give children the opportunity to see beyond the commercial culture with which they have become indoctrinated. Schools can emphasize the value of qualities other than wealth and beauty and give children a perspective on their own lives.

Calculating and reducing the self-employment tax for farmers

Article Abstract:

Self-employment tax is the equivalent of social security tax and must be paid on all income minus deductions. The tax for farmers is 15.3% on top of normal income tax. Farmers are allowed to calculate their tax using the farm optional or nonfarm optional methods. The first results in more social security benefit credits while the second results in lower self-employment tax but therefore also reduces benefits upon retirement. Other strategies to reduce self-employment tax include hiring minor children, incorporating and maximizing depreciation deductions.

Stay on their backs

Article Abstract:

Some politicians and others believe that a return to the 60's-style of economics with its great economic growth would be possible if the economy were restructured and the Federal Reserve Board would reverse its monetary policy. Why this notion is a fantasy is discussed.
