Canon joins the acquisition boom

Article Abstract:

Santa Monica, CA-based trade publisher and trade show organizer Canon Communications Inc acquired several businesses to take advantage of the booming market. Canon, acquired by VS&A Communications Partners II in Nov 1996, bought publications from Abby Communications and O&B Communications. It also purchased the Pacific Design Engineering and Atlantic Design Engineering shows from Exposition Excellence Corp. VS&A also acquired business-to-business communications platform firms T/SF Communications Corp and Chemical Week Assoc.

New Reed Elsevier unit aims to cash in on top trade press position

Article Abstract:

Reed Elvesier PlC Cahners Publishing Co has acquired Chilton Business Group resulting in the creation of Reed Elsevier Business Information. Brian Kardon stated that the joint venture had strengthen the already solid foundation of Reed and made it North America's biggest trade press publisher. He stressed that the company's larger population would help Reed to top other trade publishers. Kardon is Reed Elvesier Business Information's senior VP-marketing and chief marketing officer.

INTERTEC TAKES OVER WASTE MAGAZINE: PUBLISHER FOLDS OWN PUBLICATION TO MAKE WAY FOR 'WASTE AGE'

Article Abstract:

Intertec Publishing Corp.'s January acquisition of Waste Age magazine from the nonprofit Environmental Industry Associations made it the leading publisher in the waste disposal industry. Intertec closed down its World Wastes magazine, and moved its staff to Atlanta to work on Waste Age. Waste Age is expected to increase circulation from its current 39,000 to 43,000.
