Companies debut new high-end SLR cameras

Canon USA Inc, Nikon Inc and Minolta Corp have introduced innovative 35mm SLR cameras for photo enthusiasts who continue to embrace t he traditional 35mm technology. Canon unveiled its third-generation EOS elan that comes in three versions, namely, the Elan 7 SLR camera, an Eye-Controlled autofocus model and a Quartz Date version. Nikon launched the N65 which is marketed as a sttep up from point-and-shoot cameras for family and vacation photography. Minolta introduced is fifth-generation Maxxum 7 which features manual and autofocus.

Minolta introduced two new models to its Freedom Zoom line of compact models. The Minolta Freedom Zoom 115 featurs a 37.5mm-115mm zoom lens, two double-sided aspherical lens elements, multi-beam focus with a wide focus area, a film chamber lock, four shooting modes and a minimum focusing distance of 1.8 ft at the 115 mm focal length. On the other hand, the Minolta Freedom Zoom 70 features a 35mm-70mm zoom lens, infrared autofocus with LED focus verification, three flash modes with red-eye reduction.

Samsung Opto-Electronics America Inc has introduced two new digital cameras, namely the Digimax 210 SE and the Digimax 35MP3. The 210 SE model is a 2.1-megapixel CCD digital still camera with a 3X zoom lens that has a 38-115 mm equivalent gocal length range. Meanwhile, the 35MP3 model is a combination digital camera and MP3 digital music player, which permiots music to be downloaded from the Internet and played on the device.
