Company ramps up capacity for mine-resistant vehicles

Article Abstract:

Force Protection Inc. of Ladson is under the contract to deliver 21 mine-protected vehicles to the South African Army and 14 to the Marine Corps for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Michael Watts, the Chief Executive officer of Force Protection Inc. stated that the big advantage of these vehicles is the 'monocoque' structure, where the hardened crew capsule is integral to the design.

Company touts hardened vehicle for Iraq service

Article Abstract:

A South Carolina-based company, Force Protection Inc., stated that his company had signed with the Marine Corps to deliver 27 mine-resistant vehicles for use in Iraq. The deliveries, which include 27 Cougars, heavy trucks designed to protect passengers fro mines, roadside bombs and bullets are slated to begin in September 2004 and continue through November 2004.

Body armour upgrades to up protection against IEDs

Article Abstract:

Army faced with the failure during last fall to send enough advanced body armour to the field, has decided to send 50,000 sets of shoulder attachments to boost protection for individual soldiers. These body armours designed by Kevlar, would attach to the Interceptor vest and provide better protection against improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
