Law firms in Leeds, England, have seen an increase in corporate business in 1996, with an improvement in the quality of the work as well as quantity. Walker Morris fought a hostile bid for Goldsborough. The private finance initiative has created work. The Newcastle United FC flotation is also among major deals law firms have been involved in. Three local law firms have been involved in a management buyout valued at 82 million pounds sterling, though details of this are have yet to be revealed.

Law firms in Leeds, England, have undergone mergers and increased their market share in relation to London, England, while increasing the services they can offer. Leeds is developing as a key financial and commercial center and law firms have adapted. Specialist law firms have moved to the city, such as Berrymans Lace Mawer, which specialises in insurance law. There are six large law firms in the city and five of them rank among the biggest 25 law firms in the UK.
