Delay?

Article Abstract:

A 57% majority of UK fund managers expects planned European monetary union (Emu) to be delayed. An decrease in tax revenue and and increase in unemployment could affect Germany's ability to meet criteria for Emu, though the German government argues that this is not the case. Low interest rates and a drop in the value of the German mark could help the German economy to recover, allowing Emu targets to be achieved. The German government may also announce reductions in public spending which would help in achieving the targets.

Our shrinking earth

Article Abstract:

Former Academy of Management Pres W.H. Starbuck considers the steady increase of non-US membership to be a welcome development. Starbuck credits this development to the increase in the number of business schools outside the US, the lowered cost of air travel and the increase in cross-border collaboration made possible by the Internet. Starbuck also speaks of the move to grant members greater electronic access and the need to adjust editorial processes to reflect the academy's changing membership base.
