Submarine groundwater discharge
Article Abstract:
Mathematical modeling shows that the contribution of submarine groundwater discharge (SGWD) to the total freshwater discharge from rivers to the South Atlantic Bight is 1.7%. SGWD constitutes a small amount of the total discharge from major rivers as the rivers along the coast of a large continent generally drain large catchments. The maximum distance to which the SGWD (D(sub SGWD)) persists in the sea is 188 m. These values are much less than the 40% contribution of SGWD and a D(sub SGWD) of 20 km that have been suggested by other researchers.

The portable Spine Chair K1 designed by Nanna Kuckuck for Nanna Design Inc of New York, NY, won a gold award in the furniture category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. It is made of collapsible, weather-resistant Koroseal material combined with aluminum and metal nuts and bolts. Unlike other fold-down furniture, the Spine Chair K1 was designed to provide solid seating combined with the capacity to be folded and stored.
