Desire tests the waters in the city

Article Abstract:

Desire Petroleum is carrying out a stock flotation. The company owns two exploration licenses in the Falkland Islands, and has a 25% stake in a further two. There is no certainty of petroleum in the acreage wholly-owned by Desire, and even if petroleum is found it is not certain that a good flow rate can be achieved. Desire also shares acreage with Lasmo and drilling is scheduled to start on nearby acreage in May 1998, by Amerada Hess. Success for Amerada would push up Desire's stock price.
