Choosing a direction

Article Abstract:

Insurers in Manchester, England, have been affected by wider trends such as consolidation among brokers. Economies of scale are likely to become more important. Pressure has also come from direct sellers of insurance. Marsh and McLennan has acquired Sedgwick, the biggest independent broker in the United Kingdom, and this acquisition reflects pressure in the sector. Niche markets can be developed as one way of tackling the problem of increased competition.
