Detecting and eliminating slippery footwear

Article Abstract:

Four walking traction tests on various combinations of floor surfaces, surface lubricants and soles help measure the coefficient of friction and rank the grip between floor surfaces and footwear soles. Variations exist in the ranking orders, especially when different surface lubricants are used, indicating the need for a comparative study of the rank orders of different soles on various surface-lubricant combinations in designing shoes for industrial workers.
