Economic analysis of Campylobacter control in the Dutch broiler meat chain

Article Abstract:

The framework and assumptions for the economic and efficiency evaluation of Campylobacter control in the Dutch broiler meat chain as applied in the Campylobacter risk assessment and management (CARMA) project is given. The resultant cost-utility ratio showed the relative efficiency of several policy options adopted to reduce the infections.

Upgrading of lowland coffee in Central America

Article Abstract:

The promotion of good quality highland coffee in the 1990s had a negative impact on lowland coffee growing and income in Central America. It is suggested that final consumer demand and environmental premiums may help lowland coffee cultivators stay in business.

Asymmetric price transmission due to market power in the case of supply shocks

Article Abstract:

The asymmetry between farm and consumer price caused by a supply shock is examined using data on the Dutch cucumber market. Analysis indicates the importance of market power in determining price adjustments.
