Eliassen Group Inc, an information technology consulting and staffing company, implemented in 1998 a mentoring program that enabled its workers to provide career guidance to high school students and helped them with school work. In fall 1998, the company's Devote-A-Day program, initiated by its pres and CEO Mona Eliassen, provided its workers a paid day to spend volunteering for a cause of their choice.

The market reaction on the appointment of directors to audit committees is discussed. A survey conducted on the market reaction is examined. It is concluded that the survey findings would help regulators, managers and investors differentiate various types of financial experience and better define financial expertise.
