Pen computing: beyond the mouse and the laptop

Article Abstract:

Major computer manufacturers ranging from Momento to Microsoft have produced notepad- or notebook-sized computers with light pen-activated screens, one of the most popular being Go Corporation's PenPoint. These products allow freehand sketching and personal handwriting flexiblity in various applications while still storing up to 20 megabytes. There are also other capabilities that increase their potential, each of which are described. However, their learning requirements, incompatibilities and current slowness necessitate some time before their indispensability is acknowledged.

God is in the details

Article Abstract:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has responded to critics by means of distinctive architecture and austere, yet clean, packaging. Characterized by tall spires and spectacular adornments, Mormon temples conjure images of Disney. Mormon aesthetics, on the other hand, are showcased in spare and environment-friendly packaging. Aiming for a classic appearance, Mormon graphics are a study in controlled elegance. The implied message is that the church is no cult.
