Database marketing begins to register

Article Abstract:

The growth in the use of database marketing among US industrial firms, specially in business-to-business companies, is highlighted. Database marketing is reshaping the way industrial concerns approach their sales aand marketing efforts. It provides users the capability to go into niche marketing, reapportion sales territories, cross-sell with sales promotions and source input on new product development. For industries, database marketing is more valuable, because business-to-business customers are worth a lot more.

Upbeat marketers wield bigger budgets, shift marketing mix

Article Abstract:

Results of the survey of 101 top marketing executives conducted by Leo J. Shapiro & Assoc show that 42.6% believe that there will be an increase in their marketing budgets this year while 23.8% predict a decrease. The budgetary increase is expected to happen in the later part of 1993. Although economic recovery is predicted, the expected expenditures will not be great due to the prudent spending habits acquired during the recession period which promoted efficiency in fiscal management.
