Expro International

Article Abstract:

Expro International provides oil field services and should benefit from a rise in petroleum prices following a drop in 1998. Some 80% of the company's sales come from development and production, with exploration and appraisal, which are more volatile, accounting for the remainder. The company has moved to less volatile activities which should bring benefits, added to which Expro has carried out a restructuring plan. Costs could be cut by between 2 million pounds sterling and 2.5 million pounds as a result of the restructuring.

Unfortunate investors

Article Abstract:

Fortune Oil will report a substantial loss for 1998 due to government intervention in the oil products market in China. However it hopes to report significant improvements in trading performance in 1999. The company is having to make a provision for bad debts of $25 million and its net asset value could be cut in half by such provisions and write-offs. Its Bluesky aircraft refuelling business has potential, but it is only a small part of the company.
