RealNetworks, Inc., maker of music and video delivery software was able to raise $232 million worth of capital from different investors. Robert Glaser, RealNetworks top investor and company CFO, considered alliances and acquisitions with other companies. CheckOut.com signed a contract to sell CDs to users of RealJukebox, RelNetwork's hotest software product. MP3.com Inc., offers free music download for the software users, Sony Music Entertainment's Epic Records will use the software in reaching customers and 800.com will incorporate the software in digital music devises.

E-procurement solutions

Article Abstract:

A list of firms and their products that can be used in electronic procurement solutions are presented. Included in the list are Ariba ORMS 5.1 and Ariba Network which can be utilized in managing the content of internal catalogs and in purchasing automation. The products, which cost $750,000 and above, can be used in Windows NT 4.0, Sun Solaris 2.6 and HP-UX 11.0. The list also include IEC-Enterprise 3.0 which can be used in automating procurement cycle without the need for content management.

Through the use of electronic commerce software, companies would not only be able to reduce operational costs and cycle times, but improve customer satisfaction, as well. However, the success of intranet- or Internet-based purchasing systems significantly depends on the level of participation among employees.
