Persistent insider selling was noted starting from late 1992 to early Feb 1993. When the stock traded at the high $19 level in Mar 1993, three insiders cleared out 156,000 shares at just under $19 each. There was also an intended sale of another 100,000 shares from an entity holding restricted stock. The stock is trading at the $16 area as of the first week of May 1993 and caution is still recommended.

The sales were substantial considering there are only 6.8 million shares outstanding. Chmn Thomas F. Leahy sold the largest number of shares at 242,781, leaving him with only 226,561 shares. The sales were also non-option related rather than outright actions.

Insiders sold shares as prices appreciated starting Oct 1992 with almost 49,000 shares being distributed in Jan 1993 at the $30 level. Three insiders cleared out an additional 12,112 shares from Feb to Mar 1993, as the price declined from $29.13 to $25. The sales occurred during the price drop so caution is recommended.
