Growing U.K. program may provide FCS contractors with more work

Article Abstract:

Companies working on the US Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program could be in a favorable position to leverage those efforts into additional contracts as part of the UK army's own modernization initiative known as the Future Rapid Effects System (FRES). Both FCS and FRES are two separate programs, but both are developing and fielding, next-generation manned ground vehicles within broader efforts of their respective militaries to modernize their land forces.

Lockheed trumpets its offering in upcoming APKWS II Contest

Article Abstract:

The US $ 2 billion contract for US Army's Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System II (APKWS II) under which a 2.75-inch rocket would be developed and produced has major companies bidding for it. The Lockheed Martin Corp. led team that also consists of HR Textron and Honeywell is competing for the APKWS II pact that includes Raytheon Co and a separate partnership of BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman Corp.

The Army's massive Future Combat Systems (FCS) program is undergoing contracting activity, which is on the rise and will continue to grow through 2006. Dennis Muilenburg, vice president-general manager at Boeing Co. is overseeing the massive FCS program for the Army in a role known as the Lead Systems Integrator for which it partnered with Science Applications International Corp.
