Henry: Raptor is needed, but should be cut rather than JSF

Article Abstract:

Ryan Henry, principal deputy under secretary of defense for policy states that cutting the number of Raptors to 183 from an Air Force request for 381 makes more sense than cutting the numbers of future F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft. The Air Force needs the F-22A Raptor supersonic stealth aircraft to provide air dominance but in numbers roughly sufficient.

Better collision avoidance seen needed for UAVs

Article Abstract:

Improved means are required to deconflict combat-zone airspace that is filled with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in order to avoid collisions involving UAVs and other aircrafts. As per Lt. Gen. Walter Buchanan, commander of the 9th Air Force and US Central Command Air Forces, the UAVs must be altitude-deconflicted and time- and space-deconflicted.

Experts press for space-based ballistic missile shield

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Air Force urgently needs to meet rapidly worsening rogue-nation threats by installing ballistic defense missile as the forces have installed the first ground-based antiballistic missile in silos. A space-based system should be integrated into the layered system that includes ground-based and ship-based ballistic missile defense (BMD).
