Article Abstract:

A review of some of the third generation (3G) smart phones available in the UK market December 2006 is presented. The BlackBerry 7130g looks less functional and more stylish than its predecessors, but while the quad-band device offers features such as a web browser, push email and Bluetooth, there is no memory expansion and only four hours talk time, whereas Palm's Treo 750v uses Microsoft Windows Mobile with Palm enhancements to offer voice, browsing, memory expansion, and more.

A selection of gadgets that make for good last-minute Christmas presents includes the Electronic Sudoku Challenge that offers three levels with sets for children, intermediates and the seasoned players, and the iPod range from Apple. Other suggestions are the 'Aduki ni' light from the simultaneously retro and futuristic Matmos, and a digital picture frame that can display a variety of pictures.
