Kraft's 'icon' brand hit by tobacco boycott

Article Abstract:

Kraft Foods' popular Macaroni & Cheese line is the target of a boycott campaign organized by the activist group INFACT. The boycott is meant to punish cigarette maker Philip Morris, the parent company of Kraft Foods. INFACT is also planning to target PR firm Burson-Marsteller (B-M), which INFACT believes is behind the image campaign of Philip Morris. INFACT noted that B-M's parent company, Young & Rubicam, handles the $100-million anti-smoking campaign.

PR guides Zagat to top of dining reviews

Article Abstract:

The Zagat Survey has become the most popular name in restaurant reviews because of its aggressive public relations. The guidebooks, which provide concise yet complete reviews of restaurants in major cities such as New York and Los Angeles, have stayed 20 years in the business without the benefit of a long-running ad campaign. New York Counselor Allan Ripp estimates that over 100,000 diners participate in the surveys.
