How long do we need to memorize the random characters briefly presented?

Article Abstract:

Human visual information processing was affected by the presentation time. Research shows that random character information can be completely memorized and immediately recalled when given unlimited observation time. In addition, acceptable levels of character memorization where shown to be linearly related to observation time and fall in the ranges from two to six, seven to twelve and thirteen to sixteen characters per time range.

Interference between switched tasks

Article Abstract:

A study exploring the effects of interference between switched tasks was conducted on 96 female psychology students. An experiment measured these effects using a time-sharing situation in the processing of two tasks. Results indicate that interruption of an initial task is deliterious to the processing time of the second and increases error rate. Ommisions, confusions and intrusions occured more frequently in the second task.

Acceptance of adjustable keyboard

Article Abstract:

Adjustable, ergonomically designed computer keyboards are acceptable to most computer users. A study involving 26 typists was carried out to determine if, and when, the typists began to feel comfortable using two-piece keyboards based on the QWERTY layout. Users were less likely to accept split keyboards that were not adjustable, but were open to using adjustable models.
