How to cash in on the rental boom

Article Abstract:

The United Kingdom real estate market offers potential for long-term investments and buying to let has become popular in 1998. Buyers are reluctant to take on large mortgages, so demand has slackened except for cheaper properties, while supply has increased. Developers catering to foreign buyers in London have found that they have to sell to UK buyers. Finance is available for buy to let schemes. Higher yields can be obtained from apartments than from houses. Investors should look for areas where rental demand is high and supply is less than demand.

Calling time on the gazumping racket

Article Abstract:

The British government has released proposals for changes to house sales. Gazumping involves would-be buyers losing a purchase because the vendor accepts a higher price. The government proposes that sellers should prepare a pack for buyers including land searches and a survey, and this could cut transaction times and gazumping risks.
