Companies planning to publish a catalog on the World Wide Web should consider whether to use a dynamic or static Web page design. Static Web pages are generated in advance and stored as separate HTML files on the Web server while dynamic Web pages are generated by the server every time a request for a catalog page is received. It is important to examine factors such as catalog size, frequency of content changes, portability and page customization requirements before choosing between a static or dynamic Web page design.

American Banker Online, Web site of the daily banking periodical 'American Banker,' will employ a pay model in an effort to increase its profits by attracting print subscribers and new readers by the end of 1997. The site will feature a searchable archive which will allow users to search by section, topic, region and a variety of keyword groupings. 'American Banker' General Mngr Greg Barrett expects to attract new readers with this feature and increase site access and readership among its 5,000 subscribers.
