How trade publishers are tapping into the Web: eight companies map out their Internet strategies

Article Abstract:

The Internet has become an important tool for leading trade publishers as they venture into integrated marketing. The trend toward marketing partnerships between publishers and advertisers benefits greatly from the World Wide Web's ability to provide a wide variety of marketing solutions. An overview of what the top eight trade publishers are doing on the Web is presented. Advanstar Communications maintains 78 Web sites to provide promotional support for its magazines and shows, while Intertec Publishing has 37 Web sites for its 80 publications.

Microsoft targets b-to-b for new browser

Article Abstract:

Microsoft will introduce the new Internet Explorer Version 4.0 Browser in summer of 1997. The software will have an Active Channel technology which will allow companies to create data they will push utilizing the Channel Definition Format to user desktops. The new browser will also support Dynamic HTML. Forbes, Fortune and The Wall Street Journal have already signified their intentions to use Microsoft's browser to develop the future content of their business publications.

Forget the trip, meet in cyberspace: NetMeeting will let users share data, video and audio online

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp's NetMeeting will enable users to share audio, video and other data over the Internet. The software, which is currently undergoing beta tests, was introduced in 1996 and is expected to replace teleconferences and traditional meetings within one year. It runs on the Windows-based standards that have been adopted by most hardware and software companies.
