Hybridisation or Polarisation: Doctors and Accounting in the UK, Germany and Italy

Article Abstract:

Research shows that accounting practices have not become incorporated into physicians' formal education in Italy, Germany, or the United Kingdom despite reforms aimed at greater responsibility for doctors regarding fiscal management. Although hybridization has not occurred, polarization has, resulting in the emergence of the medical manager as a professional sub-group.

'A lot of friction at the interfaces': the regulation of Britain's privatised railway system

Article Abstract:

An analysis is presented on privatized industry regulation, using Great Britain's now-defunct Railtrack as an illustration. Discussion centers on how Railtrack's collapse can be attributed not to the regulatory system but rather to a flawed concept of railroad privatization. Implications for Network Rail, Railtrack's successor, are discussed.
