Hype that will leave investors hung over

Article Abstract:

Dubious schemes for investing in whiskey and champagne have been offered to UK investors. The returns offered by companies involved in these schemes are unlikely to be achieved and there is a surplus of five-year-old malt whiskey which should meet future demand. The Securities and Investments Board offers no protection since whiskey is not classified as an investment. Investment in champagne also involves risk and there are no solid secondary markets for champagne or whiskey.
