Lockheed takes on army portal; system to expand to C2, Intel functions

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp. would take over the development and management of the U.S. Army's Army Knowledge Online (AKO) and plans to expand the existing system to accommodate more functions, including command-and-control and intelligence applications. The US Army has selected Lockheed Martin as a single integrator who can reach to both the defense and commercial industries to make the plans possible.

Northrop Grumman Fire Scout 'out front' in Army FCS

Article Abstract:

The joint unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is in a strong position within the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program in 2006 as the Army is able to take advantage of extensive Navy testing of the Northrop Grumman Corp. Fire Scout. The vertical-takeoff Fire Scout, which is to be the Army Class IV FCS UAV and serve aboard the Navy's new class of Littoral Combat Ships, is a very mature platform.

LUH bid: Sikorsky's chance to showcase support side

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation is planning to bid jointly with a European Aeronautics Defense and Space (EADS) Company unit for the contract to build the Army's Light Utility Helicopter (LUH). Sikorsky through its partnership with EADS can show off a lesser-known side to the famed helicopter maker, that of aircraft support.
