Army cuts Lockheed Martin out of troubled ACS

Article Abstract:

The contract awarded to Lockheed Martin Corporation for the aerial common sensor, which would have been the next generation intelligence platform, is nullified inspite of its demand for the sensor by the US Army. The contract was cancelled as there didn't exist a clear understanding of the various requirements and challenges and there existed technical difficulties with the state of art system into the aircraft platform.

Not pleased with Lockheed's alternatives, Army may fill troubled ACS

Article Abstract:

The US Army officials are not happy with the four options offered by Lockheed Martin Corporation that has offered to fix the ruined Aerial Common Sensor (ACS) and may cancel the program instantly. The ACS is a surveillance platform for the Army and Navy and the development program has not progressed since it was discovered that Lockheed had chosen a very small aircraft to carry the payload.

GD, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer seen vying for ACS

Article Abstract:

Several aircrafts are seen in the running for the Aerial Common Sensor (ACS) electronic surveillance platform due to the rejection of the Embraer ERJ 145 aircraft that Lockheed Martin Corp. offered the U.S. Army on the ground that it was too small for the job. Lockheed Martin and the Army are considering an alternative aircraft, for which a list of airframes in contention is presented.
