Looking for those Finney glory days

Article Abstract:

Preston North End is a UK soccer club which has been promoted to the Second Division in 1996. Soccer clubs can improve their financial performance through improving their game, as is shown by Manchester United. Preston North End returned to profitablity in the year to Jun 1996. The club is boosting both ticket and merchandise sales and plans other activities such as a football museum. The club has acquired Chorley Borough, a rugby club, which allows its stadium to be used in summer months.

Two in the bush at Loftus Road

Article Abstract:

Loftus Road is a UK rugby and soccer club operator which has Wasps, a rugby team, and Queens Park Rangers (QPR) a soccer team. The company's share price is affected by the performance of QPR and will rise if QPR enters the Premier League. Television revenues, merchandising sales and ticket sales are all higher for Premier League clubs, which helps with buying good players. Meanwhile, Wasps is playing in a larger stadium which should help increase match attendance levels.

Blues not over for Chelsea

Article Abstract:

Chelsea Village is a UK soccer club owner which floated in April 1996 using the Alternative Investment Market. The company reported a profit of 3.1 million pounds sterling for 1995 and this figure is not likely to be exceeded by much in 1996. The company is likely to be affected by the performance of the soccer players since revenues are likely to rise if the performance is good. The share price for Chelsea Village is seen as too high in Jul 1996.
