Lush money times for Pentagon may not last, Sessions warns

Article Abstract:

Senator Jeff Sessions Republican, Alaska has warned that the Department of Defense (DOD) should take advantage of the fiscal 2007 defense budget proposed by the administration in anticipation of leaner days ahead. The $439 billion fiscal 2007 defense budget, which does not include perhaps another $80 billion supplemental appropriation for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, stands in contrast to the roughly $300 billion the Pentagon was getting 10 years ago.

DOD UAV roadmap highlights importance of J-UCAS

Article Abstract:

The Pentagon has published the third edition of its 'UAV roadmap' highlighting its technological priorities in the area of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by sidestepping the matter of whether those priorities would get the funding to match. The Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems (J-UCAS) is at the top of its list, despite the fact that the Department of Defense (DOD) has requested a lower budget for the program in fiscal 2006 than in 2005.
