Mechanisms of gene silencing by double-stranded RNA

Article Abstract:

The mechanisms of RNA gene silencing and the roles of the proteins that make up the cellular post transcriptional RNA silencing machinery are reviewed. The manner in which double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) is processed, which is an important regulator of gene expression in many eukaryotes into small RNAs and the way in which they are incorporated into effector complexes are discussed.

Phenotypic alteration of eukaryotic cells using randomized libraries of artificial transcription factors

A method is developed in which randomized libraries of zinc finger-containing artificial transcription factors are used to induce phenotypic variations in yeast and mammalian cells. Randomized libraries of artificial transcription factors are useful tools for functional genomic and phenotypic engineering.
