Mersey Docks is ready to rebound

Article Abstract:

Mersey Docks was affected by a labor dispute in Jun 1995 and Atlantic Container Line was made to leave the port of Liverpool. The impact of this dispute has been less severe than was initially feared, and ACL has returned. Mersey Docks includes Medway as well as Liverpool and investment at Medway should bring rewards. Mersey also runs ferries which are likely to involve losses. Mersey could still achieve a profit of 34 million pounds sterling for 1996 rising to 40 million pounds to 42 million pounds for 1997.
