The predicament faced by four key constituents that include venture capitalist, philanthropic organizations, academia and government in the area of venture capital funding gap is presented. Experts conclude that although venture capitalists are in a great position to assess the funding gap at any given time, they are not going to commit any unnatural acts to bridge this gap.

Angel investors were in existence for many years, providing seed funds for ventures from the Bell Telephone Company in 1874 to the 1944 investment. Angels provide the entrepreneur with valuable know-how in starting and growing a business and provide start up capital of about $40-60 million for US biotech entrepreneurial ventures.
