Article Abstract:

Public relations service professionals agree on the potential power of the Internet in their businesses but continue to disagree in its importance at the present time. Some firms believe that the current reach of the medium does not pose any serious threat to established media. However, supporters of streaming video and Internet PR placements argue that the number of people wired to the Internet have grown enough to be treated seriously.

Corporate public relations (PR) specialists are in the perfect position to mediate between 'progressive groups' and US corporations regarding the issue of globalization. For each side, globalization represents either the hope of worldwide expansion and more profits or the decimation of the nation's manufacturing base and the exploitation of workers. PR practitioners are advised to seek a middle ground by listening to what each side has to say.
