Article Abstract:

The demand for hand held computers or personal digital assistants (PDAs) increases forcing computer manufacturers to improve and enhance their products. The main advantage of PDAs over other types of computer is portability and consumers are expecting their PDAs to perform better than their larger counterparts. The mobile computing features expected from PDAs are data synchronization capability, Internet connection capability, built-in modem, voice activation capability and text entry tools.

Ready to serve

Article Abstract:

Apple Computer Inc.'s Macintosh computer remains useful to design groups which need to set up a World Wide Web server despite its drawbacks. The Mcintosh has only a 3.8% stake in the global computer market but has a substantially larger interest in the World Wide Web. Recent reports show that 18% of people who access the Web use Macintoshes and about 20% of public Web sites are hosted on Macintosh OS computers.

Rewriting the alphabet: These letters you're reading aren't as efficient as you may think

Article Abstract:

Hrant Papazian, an academic from UCLA, made a compelling case for macro-level alphabet reform at the Association of Typographique Internationale (ATpI)'s annual meeting in Boston. Papazian argues that type is a tool and that all tools can be improved. The proposed reforms include modifying the letters of the alphabet so that their boumas diverge, whilst still retaining the essence of each letter.
