The DOD acquisition planners are keen on acquiring technology-driven weapons and systems as the Army has taken the lead in shifting the emphasis on acquisitions toward speed, agility and precision.

DOD, Air force may have way out of Raptor flap

Article Abstract:

A proposal is being made by the top officials in Pentagon to cut down the purchase of total number of F/A-22 Raptor fighter aircrafts from 277 aircrafts to 160 aircrafts. However, Doug Kara, an Air Force spokesman indicates that this proposal would leave the Air Force without sufficient aircraft to carry out its mission in future.

MDA succeeds with missile hit-to-kill test

The Pentagon's Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has announced that it conducted a successful ballistic missile 'hit-to-kill' test as part of its work constructing a national anti-missile shield. The test entailed the downing of a 'separating missile' that divides its warhead from its booster while in flight.
