Presenting directions with a vibrotactile torso display

Article Abstract:

The direction in the horizontal plane to which specific torso location is mapped using a 15 tactor linear display is investigated. The results show that the observed direction is toward the midsagittal plane compared to the tactor direction and these results are relevant for tactile navigation displays for visually handicapped individual or for jet pilots.

Fatigue self-management strategies and reported fatigue in international pilots

Article Abstract:

The use of different strategies to manage fatigue, that are associated with work, were investigated in a sample of 253 pilots operating Air New Zealand regional and international routes. The survey report suggests that napping helps in reducing fatigue.

Adjustable typography: an approach to enhancing low vision text accessibility

The reduced ability to read is the most significant limitation experienced by the older visually impaired individuals. Adjustable typography, a new computer-based tool for enhancing visual performance for people with low vision is described.
