Production rising again after decline

Article Abstract:

Czech industry suffered a fall in output in 1991 and 1992, and there were further problems in 1993 when Slovakia and the Czech Republic separated. Production started to rise from 1994, and the number of small companies has increased, partly because large firms have been split up. Well-known Czech firms include Budweiser Budvar, a beer exporter. The Czech steel industry accounts for much of the country's exports and is undegoing modernization. Vitkovice and Nova Hut are major steel companies and the government has a majority stake in both of these firms.
