Publishers, Egghead assault piracy; point-of-purchase campaign is the 1st BSA-retailer effort

Article Abstract:

The Business Software Alliance, a group of publishers organized to fight software piracy, has teamed up with retailer Egghead Software in an effort to increase resources and lower costs of educating users and launching information campaigns on the disadvantages of the illegal practice. The piracy rate in the US is low at 35% compared to that of other countries but it still drains a big portion of the financial resources of software companies. The group's initial campaign was held in Jul. 1995.

Phone companies ready explosion of marketing

Article Abstract:

The deregulation of the $800 billion telecommunications industry will result in the sector's massive marketing campaign. Liberalization will provide marketing opportunities through all kinds of media. The US and the UK are in the best position to take advantage of these opportunities abroad. The industry is being influenced by regulations which are changing due to customer's demand for better service and sophisticated technology.

Software publishers embark on piracy fighting campaign: focus is on Europe, Asia

Article Abstract:

The Software Publishers Assn. (SPA) has intensified its campaign against software piracy, which approximately cost US companies $5.2 billion in 1994. The asssociation has published several anti-piracy advertisements in Singapore, China and Europe. The SPA, along with other organizations, has also established offices in Asia and Europe in an effort to raise public awareness of pirated products.
